000 wd5000c035 External hard drive does not appear to have power... light is not coming on when the power cord is plugged in, and the computer does not recognize the hard drive when it is plugged in via USB. Is it possible I need just a replacement power cord? If so, where can I obtain one? I don't want to lose all that I already have on this external hard drive

If it's the power adapter then a simple search of the internet should show you where to go to find one. The other problem is that the HDD may be bad. You'd have to open the case, remove the HDD then connect it to your computer. I'm sure this would void the warrenty. However if it is the HDD then you saved yourselp the cost of a power supply.
