02 Ford Escape V6 4X4 died while driving and now cranks but no start
I have a 2002 Ford Escape with a V6 that died while driving. No warning lights came on prior to cutting off. It still had battery power after and would turn over but not start. Fuel pump whines when key turned. Replaced fuel filter. There is fuel that comes out on the fuel rail Schroeder valve. There is a ground wire on passenger side of engine compartment that goes from top of engine and attaches to the body just above the wheel well that when I crank the engine for about 5-10 seconds this wire smokes and cooks the insulation off. Found ground wire near starter that came off so reattached and smoking ground wire has stopped but still no start. Getting no spark on any coils. Replaced crank sensor and no change I can't get it to run and I am at a loss so any suggestions of what to try and check would be appreciated.
