I had the same problem with my watch it would reset at the most oddest times but I found that if you set the world time to the same time as your time that you want it to be then it won't reset it appears to be a software problem that when there is a discrepancy between actual time where you are and your world time setting it resets give that a try
Hi,the problem is either from a weak battery or a mechanical fault in the engine of the watch,
i think you should replace the battery,if the problem persists afterwards,then it's time to give him a wrist watch as a birthday gift.
