1979 cad fleetwood brougham knocking sound from,engine
My engine is making a knocking sound when in park im scared to move it or put it in gear for fear of messing it up more when i press on the accelerator the sound gets louder and worse my car is leaking oil at the rear main seal my stop engine oil pressure light was coming on at stop lights (i just bought the car) then the light stopped coming on the car got towed and when i got it out of tow i drove it home and parked it i tried to start it the next morning and the knocking started

Sometimes collapsed lifters or loose rocker arms can cause knocking sounds in an engine. However, the fact that there was a possible loss of oil pressure and that the knocking gets louder as the rpm's increase, would indicate that there is damage to a connecting rod bearing and possibly the crankshaft. If the latter is the case you are looking at a fairly substantial repair bill.
I forgot to mention, until you find out for sure what the problem is it is better not to drive the car, as more damage could result.
