1981 GL STALLING PROBLEM!!!!! HELP PLEASE
HI,
I have a 81 subaru gl with 1.8l carburated engine. I recently bought a new inline fuel pump because the one that came factory just about rusted off the car. I also ran all new gas line from the gas tank to the carb. Once i finally figured out how to keep the damn thing from vapor locking and got a good supply of fuel to the carb it still doesnt want to run. I'll turn my fuel pump on and let it run for about 5 seconds and the car starts and runs fine at idle. Now if i take the air cleaner off and look down into the carb i dont see any gas being sprayed into either barrels until i start reving it up then gas starts spraying into the barrel that has the choke over it (which would be the one closest to the front of the vehicle. After running the car at like 3000 rpms for about a minute or two the stream begans to go away and therefore the car stalls. Then i can get right back in it and itll start right up after pumping it like twice then does the exact same thing. Im not sure how these carbs are suppose to work but the second barrel (the one closest to the fire wall) doesnt do anything. On some occasions fuel will drip out of the jet but besides that it just goes along for the ride.....!!! ANY HELP!!!!
