1988 Porsche 911 carrera cabriolet-need help!
Hi!
I was driving and adjusting my power seat the other day-car was running fine. Then came to a stop sign and had trouble getting it into gear(i did get it in gear, but it doesn't feel right) . I turned around to get home just in case something bad was happening and noticed a smell like a burnt up vacuum cleaner belt. I don't know if there is a problem with a belt or not. The car will not shift into reverse and when I do get it in gear the shifter moves sideways like it is in neutral. Does this problem sound familiar to you? Please let me know.
Thanks,
Michelle

Sounds like shiftier linkages loose or worn --check linkages----as to smell can be belt or possible clutch slippage
