You need to check to see if you are getting power to the tail lights and if you are not getting power check for a blown fuse. If you are getting power check for a blown bulb or bad socket. Now if you are not getting brake lights and you are calling that tail lights then the issue maybe in the brake pedal switch so make sure its actual tail lights out and not brake lights.
the brake lights work. I checked the fuse as the dash or instrument lights don't come on. So, that was my first thought. The fuse was still good. None of the tail lights come on. Will one bad bulb cause the whole system(including instrument lights) to not work?the brake lights work. I checked the fuse as the dash or instrument lights don't come on. Ok so check off brake light switch. Ok one bulb wouldnt cause none of that to not work. I must say that what you are telling me sounds like a blown fuse. I know you said that you checked fuses but check all fuse boxes even the one under the hood. Im almost certain that there is a fuse blown. Get a manual that shows you where all fuses and fuse blocks are located take your time and check them all. Im sure you will find a blown fuseOk so check off brake light switch.
