1996 buick park avenue,battery goes dead after a couple of days ...i used a test light between the neg on the battery and the neg cable...id does light up...no lights are staying on, and no cig lighters stuck...maybe something to do with the security sys?

You need to hook up a dvom meter to the battery to check and see if your alternator is putting out 13.5 to 14.6 volts hook the meter to the alternator first get your reading then hook it up to the battery should have pretty much the same reading if not your battery cables have to much resistance corroded . or you can take the alternator off and have your local auto parts store test it for free same goes for your battery. Your battery could be bad even know you it says 12.6 volts they need to do a load test on it to see if it holds up under all your accessories then if your battery and alternator checks out fine and cables check out fine then I say you diffidently have a pacitic drain problem .
