If it's anything like my 1999 Mercury Mountaineer, you will probably have to pull the fan/clutch assembly off with the fan attached. Then you can remove the fan. You can purchase a fan/clutch wrench set at a local auto parts store for around $20. The fan/clutch assembly can be removed with the fan shroud at the same time.
