Hello, W/D here. Basically, I'd have to say that the date of manufacture isn't really important. The Badger InSinkErators can last a long time, or wear out in a short time. I have replaced a number of them. Some were still in warranty, and some were much older. I would look instead at the performance of the disposer. Check especially for leaks around the bottom, indicating worn seals or bearings, the most common serious problems. When this is the case, it is cheaper to replace the unit than to attempt a rebuild. If the disposer is leaking all the way through the disposer, it may be leaking through the wiring connection cavity, making a shock hazard a real possibility, so trip the breaker before investigating such a leak further.
