2 tank or less. Then it takes a very long time for it to light. The fan runs and fuel comes out the front. When it does light a nice tube of flame comes out the front and the associated smoke. I've cleaned and gapped the igniter plug. What causes the delay in lighting? Once lit it runs fine

It could be a worn nozzle that does not attomise the fuel properly. Try changing or cleaning the nozzle.
