2 TON WEATHERKING HEAT PUMP VIBRATION AND NOISE
ONE YEARS AGO WE INSTALLED A 2TON 10 SEER WEATHERKING HEAT PUMP... this past summer I had to replace the compressor????? I know the charge was correct. How ever I noticed the compressor did not have a heater. Thinking this was the reason the compressor failed I installed a band type heater on my newly installed compressor. A friend of mine is stating I should have traps on the suction line.I have approx 20' of vertical rise total length no more then 60' .After approx. 10 to 15mins of operation the indoor and outdoor unit begins to vibrate along with a loud noise..... Your friend is correct. Installing a sump or p-trap in the suction line will probably help. The oil may be leaving the compressor but can't get back.
