2 v2 Power Light Blinks, No sound out of Sub. Works in friends Car HELP
I just bought a new JL 300.2 amp,
i noticed when it hit really low beats the low ohm light would flash. So i turned the bass from the head unit down. While i was driving I turned up the bass from the head unit and cranked up the volume and put a heavy bass song on. After 20 minutes of listening to it the amp sub shut off and the amp did too.
it would flash the green power light every 5 seconds.
i took it out of my car (04 volvo s40) and put it in my cousins 04 VW passat. it worked fine in there.
Now im wondering if its my alternator? i checked the battery when it was off and the voltage ran at about 12.5 which is okay too.
I dont know, someone please help it would be greatly appreciated

This is normally due to clipping of your sub. Try reducing your low pass frequency to half and volume gain on your amp to 1/2. Your amp circuitry is over-heating. It's not designed to run like that. Use minimal gain on your amp and use your head unit to increase your bass. Turn up your stereo 'til you begin to distortion from there adjust your gains to your listening volume.
ironmike: The amp is going into protection basically.
This is after excess play I'm gathering on ironmike issue.
The amp is getting way too hot.
You may have the subs bridged to too low of an ohm for your amp.
If you run your amp at a 1 ohm load eventually a 2 ohm stable amp will shut off repeatedly after say 10 seconds, because the amp isn't designed for a 1 ohm load.
I would try running your amp in stereo with the subs in parallel.
+ to +, - to - on amp. Dual Voice + to + to +, - to - to - inside box.
The JL 300 is designed to run at 1.5 ohms.
This wiring is 2 ohm stable.
Are you sure you don't have any shorted wiring or defective speakers?
