2 years old. I haven't used it in a while, but when I turned it on today, the machine just grinded, and no water came out. I used your tip about pulling the handle up, and a little water sputtered out, but then a nasty smell, and then the motor stopped alltogether, and now only the green lights for cups on either side are flashing, but no grinding or whirring sound. Did I short the machine somehow?

Hi,
It seems your motor has be shorted out.Since you had smell it some type of short circuit in the board or the wire would have been taken place. You have to open the Essenza to find the exact part that has been burn.Dont worry mainly wiring short circuit only would have taken place since you have not used for many days.
