2000 buick century 3.1 cooling fans do not turn on or off .checked relays and fans all seem good .autozone said it was my temp. switch which installs on the engine.my ? is does the temp switch tell the fans to turn on and off or does it just let my gadge know the temperature level and thats it

Work from the fans back to the origins. Do the fans function under system voltage and amps. If they do, check for bad contacts (corrosion) where the fan bus connects to the wire harness. Then proceed to the fuse panel, check the relays and fuses. look further if the solution has not been found by now. || shorts, brokem wires or fusible links, chassy grounds. ECM, temp sending unit.||
No it tell's the fans when to come on and when to turn off, change the "tem switch" or (sender unit) for a new one and all should be well,, if the fans are working right!
The computer uses the signal from a coolant temperature sensor located on the top left side of engine below the throttle body. it should have a three wires connector. make sure all the fuses are good
