2000 Dakota battery problems
My girlfriend has a 2000 Dakota 3.9L the starter was I thought acting up the last couple days when you turn the key it would click click let off the key try again and it would start. well tonight her daughter took it and called said it did nothing I got there and no lights or nothing put the jumper cables on and lights came on and it started first try and several after that with no clicking but it wont stay running at a idle took the battery out ( 85 month interstate that is 2 yrs old) put it on my sons black and decker charger and it says it is full but then flashes a code for "see battery service tech" could the battery have just taken a early **** on her. It's 100% possible bud. I've actually had a battery blow out on me at 3 days old. I was just driving to the store and I shut the car off. I went and got some stuff and came back to a 100% dead car. It had a new altenator and the battery was all but three days old. It was so dead that even the overhead light wouldn't come on. I got a jump start from a friend and made it to napa. They tested the battery and said it reads perfect until you try to draw energy from it.
They told me it was a shorting cell, and that the battery was shot. It was replaced for free; as should yours if you still have the warranty information.
