2002 Suzuki XL-7 Press accelerator sometimes moves but not overdrive seems like. Depress pedal then press and then catches OD
2002 Suzuki XL-7 when I am stopped and I press accelerator sometimes it kicks in others I does not have the acceleration but then kicks in upon letting go of the gas and pressing the gas. Been told not a tranny issue. Only had a problem in the 80's with a Monte Carlo and it was a part on the carb. This is not a carb vehicle. Any ideas? Sensors I may have missed?

If you're saying that it's an acceleration issue then it most likely is not the transmission. I don't know if you had the four-cylinder version or the 3.4 V6 either way it may very likely be the throttle position sensor.
OD works kind same as the old car, but is now a computer brain calling the shots.
but some still have the kick down cable. ill look for you, now.
your simple post is just this.
why is my OD intermittent. ? simple no?
what you do is scan it first, see if the TCM tranny brain sees
DTC errors, btw OD can be canceled on call cars if the trans mission goes in to limphome mode, its you not scanning it to discover this fact is what is wrong.
scan it.
it can be these things
1: inputs to the brain wrong (tcm) in all cases, just like all computers made , if you lie to it , (inputs) the outputs are wrong.
2: bad wiring to any of that. (connections bad)
3: bad tranny solenoids (your guy lied) see?
are you sure its OD failing and not TCC lockup failing"
again, not scanned it, you will never learn that will you.
take a real good tester to tell if OD or TC is failing
and i cant teach you that here.. ever.
why not get car service are you really ready to learn the complexities of and A/T ?
02-XL-7
on this car the TCM resides inside the PCM.
(the magic of faster microprocessors did that )
when you scan the PCM at the right knee cap DLC OBD2 port
with any modern scan tool, it will spit out tranny errors.
you do know if engine has problems and power lacks
the transmission can not hit OD , right?
OD is reached only at a spec. RPM and engine load.
if the engine is weak the TCM thinks all roads are hills
see? how that works,?
so there is the 2nd failing by you , not looking for engine errors.
or error class 3
comm errors. the TCM like this.
Trouble Code: B1156 (2.7L V6 VIN - Auto)
CAN Communication Error (A/T Only)
and lots more. huge list of errors that relate to this .
Trouble Code: P0717 (2.7L V6 VIN - Auto)
Input / Turbine Speed Sensor "A" Circuit No Signal
or
Trouble Code: P0741 (2.7L V6 VIN - Auto)
Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck OFF
and lots more.
just a short list to show you what you forgot to do first.
1: get car serviced,
2: scan it.
do so , or guess forever.
the FSM shows. for A/T.
Throttle Valve (TV) cable," if equipped"
my 04 grand, had NONE. if it stick out shifting will be late, or missed on top end. (tv is pure mechanics)
here is my 2.7L 2004 TV bell crank.
see that empty slot, that is for the older cars that had one.
see the red arrow here, if a cable is there.
then that is TV to A/T .... and must be checked for sticking...
you never posted engine size, and transmission match engines
here is 2.7L the H27 engine, is true name
