2004 2.3L Manual Ford Focus Cruise Control Works Intermittently
Weird problem with my cruise and it's not related to the brake switch like everyone else online I tested the brake and clutch switch and regardless the switch nonfunctional would throw a light on the dash when I do a cruise test. When I perform the cruise test by pressing the button sequence. I get no flashes and so to make sure it wasn't the switches in the steering wheel being faulty I unhooked the bpps and then got 2 or 3 flashes depending on which brake switch I pull. Now, as I say it's intermittent so sometimes it just works and has no issue and goes along perfectly fine, I did replace the cruise unit with one from a newer 05-07 model year I didn't check what year the car was in the junkyard, but I had this issue with the old cruise unit too. I'm not entirely sure what to check next I was thinking clock spring but the horn, buttons, and (hopefully) airbag works. the SRS module can communicate with it but not immediately after a battery removal (don't know if that's relevant). All the brake lights work I even got a spare center light that I tested and it still has the issue. all my rear lights are normal bulbs not LEDs (except the OEM center light). I can provide more info if needed

If you have access to an OBD2 reader, you may find there is a problem elsewhere in the car that is interrupting the normal operation of the cruise control. Even if you swapped the cruise control out, if the fault lies elsewhere, its not addressing the original cause. best wishes.
No obd2 codes or SRS codes, drive cycle was completed a while ago so if there would be a code it would have shown by now
