My Escape will start misfiring and the check engine light comes on. I read the codes and it will tell me one or two cylinders are misfiring. I talked with a Ford mechanic and he told me it was bad coils. To check this coils were switched between cylinders which do not show up as misfires and still the same cylinders show misfire. When this occurs I can add a bottle of injector cleaner to a fill up and before the tank has even run down to half, the miss disappears. I drive about 4 to 5 thousand miles and the miss returns.
