2004 Kia Sorento LX Good Day, I was on way to get my daughter from school when the vehicle shut down, check the fuse, relay and replaced the pump. Still won't start and all the mechanics seems to shy away from this type of vehicle. I also noticed there was an inertia switch(left side facing the engine) which is still in place. I started pulling the carpets and panels out and traced the wires to the wire harness(right side passenger foot) and they seems decent. Any tips or tricks to try because this is a pain in the *ss? A
Are you sure it's the fuel system that's causing this problem? Have you checked for spark? Have you checked the fuel pressureI think there's a filter in the fuel line. What makes you suspect a broken wire? Broken wires are rare in modern cars unless someone screws them up. The ECM can shut the fuel pump down if you know where the relay is and you know the pump fuse is good do this remove.the fuel pump relay hen locate cavity #30 and #87 use a short piece of wire to jumper these terminals then listen for the pump to run, if it runs now we need to check to see why the ECM isn't turning the pump. I hope this helps. Take care. If you want to contact me use comment and it will show up in my email.
I bought a new fuel pump relay, still wasn't working.. I partnered with an electrical mechanic and he researched that when the ECU isn't getting an rpm reading or signal from the crank sensor it wont start(think its a safety feature). We disconnected the crank sensor then reconnect and it came on.Thanks for all the help.I bought a new fuel pump relay, still wasn't working.. Step 1 - check all your fluid levels ". " 2- Test battery and altenator 3 -check for trouble codes . If codes are present then follow procedure in service manual. Good luck .
