The easiest way to determine electrical based issues, especially when related to the ignition system, is to use a diagnostic device to read the stored codes from the ECU. Without doing that you could be clutching at straws trying to diagnose it. And it may be some kind of protection system that has kicked in to stop any kind of internal damage. If so then a diagnostic device would be needed to reset it. Another method of resetting an ECU would be to remove the negative cable from the battery terminal. Before you do this however, I would highly recommend that you check to see if you have your vehicle's radio code, and navigation equipment code if you have one, in your vehicle user manual first. If not then you could end up with a huge, and expensive job, of retrieving the codes from your main dealer. Some dealers will charge for these codes and to get them will require the serial number from each device. This in itself could mean you end having to remove most of the dashboard to get at those serial numbers.
