2006 Dodge Sprinter 2500 backup lighting circuit. When parking lights on backup lights on at a lower level, but when placed in reverse the backup lights get brighter
I want to hook up LED backup lights but doing so they too are on with parking lights and in reverse get brighter. Help please.
Trying to understand your description - you are saying the reverse lights are on without the vehicle being in reverse but they get brighter when you put it into reverse. The reverse lights shouldn't be on at all unless reverse gear is engaged.
At 2006 your car probably has multiplex lighting (computer controlled) and it is often unwise to change anything from standard and if there is towbar electrics to consider, either the dealer kit should be used or a multiway relay so no additional load is placed on the original wiring.
Your description indicates a ground fault though it would be the height of coincidence the same fault would be found both sides. Sometimes such a fault can be caused by fitting the wrong bulb type and I suggest you check this first.
