The engine coolant temp may have reached the predetermined temp of 204 degrees. If that happens the Ecm will turn the cooling fan on. The fan will also run if the oil temp rises above 302 degrees, transmission fluid temp reaches 270 degrees. The fan will also run for two minutes after the vehicle is shut off if the coolant temp is greater than 235 degrees or A/c pressures higher than 241 psi.
