Try cleaning the Hub of the wheel bearing assembly where the rotor attaches, if there are any rust scabs it could make the rotor turn with excessive run-out.

I would also make sure there is no play in the wheel hubs because if there is when you apply the brakes the rotors will touch the backing plates.

I have a 2012 equinox. Replaced pads and rotors. Have a grinding/squeaking, horrible sound only when applying the brakes lightly.
If it started after the pads and rotors were changed, check for bent backing plates rubbing on the rotor.
