I had similar problem with CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory
If this is your RAM:
Corsair 1024MB Value Select PC2-4200 (533MHz) DDR2 RAM, 128Mx64non-ECC, 240-pin DIMM, Unbuffered, CL4, Lifetime warranty (VS1GB533D2) Then it is high density. You need low density to work, look for one ending with an 8, not 64.
Download a manual here:

Good luck
I have the same problem with this mb i just bought kingston 2gb pk single bank and its showing it as 512mb each stick do you think that updating the bios will resolve this?
Sounds like the 2x1gb is double sided. I've had alot of trouble with pc chips and using more than 1 stick of double sided ram.
Use single sided ram, and you'll be problem free with PC Chips, some of the cheap MSI boards are the same way.
