3 medium beeps on pc; repeating
I have a pc which has been in storage for about 6 months. When powered on it emits 3 medium-length beeps. BEEP-pause-BEEP-pause-BEEP. Then there is a delay of about 5 seconds and the same 3 beeps repeats.
I have looked on google and can't seem to pinpoint the cause.
I don't know what make the BIOS is. I have swapped the RAM with some old ram I had laying around but still 3 beeps. I plugged a PS/2 keyboard into the pc just in case the USB keyboard was the problem. I unplugged the USB mouse. That just left video and power and keyboard plugged in.
At no time is there any video (nothing appears on the screen) to indicate what is causing the error.
Can someone offer any suggestions.
Regards
John

According to Systemax, the problem is solved by removing the video card, then the RAM, followed by installing the RAM in the first slots (0 & 1) then reinstalling the video card.
They say the components are too close together and can be slightly off-set if not installed in that order.
Good luck.
The only other idea is the BIOS battery is dead.
