4WD not working
My 4WD has not been working in my car for a couple of years now. I took it to AutoZone to see why the check engine light was on and it said there was a short in a wire to the transfer case.
What happens with my car is when I hit 4HI or 4LO or Auto 4 it will just keep blinking. When I hit 2 it will go straight to solid. I can hear a motor running like it is trying to shift when I first hit any of the buttons to shift into or out of 4WD.
So here's what I have tried so far...I removed the kick panel on the passenger side to reveal (what I was told was) the transfer case. I inspected all the wires to the make sure there were no breaks or loose wires. Then I tried cleaning the contacts and used dialectic grease. I have a multimeter and would test the voltage coming down each wire but I don't have a wiring diagram so I don't know what they are supposed to be. Am I working on the right path or should I try something else? I know this was a problem with a lot of the Blazers.

This is probably not the solution you would want to hear, but I would say forget about it. Chances are there is something wrong with the wiring harness and that might cost you a pretty penny.
Either that, or you'll never find the cause of the problem or it be too much of a pain to repair it.
However for wiring diagrams, go to the dealer and see if they can print you out a copy of the diagram showing the four wheel drive push button system from their maintenance manual.
