5.1 surround not working
I'm having issues with getting the 5.1 surround to work. I just installed a Creative X-fi soundcard and updated all the drivers. There are no problems under device manager. (i.e. all drivers are updated.) But when I go to run a sound check to make sure that the speakers play independently I only get sound out of the front left and right speakers. The rub is that when I play music or a game, sound comes from all speakers including the sub. It sounds like it's playing in stereo but coming from all the speakers. The switch on the back of the sub is placed in 5.1. Can you help? Thanks

I uninstalled the previous audio software that the computer had. (Realtek HD audio) and turned off the onboard sound card in the BIOS settings. Then I went back and uninstalled all the new audio software and reinstalled it with all antivirus programs turned off. The main trick was to make sure that the matrix is turned off. If it is on it will play sound from all the speakers at once as if it were mono. Turning it off after changing the BIOS and uninstalling the old software and reinstalling the new allowed it to work properly. I hope this helps.
Hey R6Biker, I tried what you did and haven't work for me, have any other solution?
I have the same both Z-5300 and Creative X-fi.
What I did is buy a RCA cable, then connect it from the back of the X-fi to a converter from RCA to the 3 normal green, orange and black connectors, and those to the back of the woofer, am I doing something wrong?
For more I try, in the test I only can hear left and right speakers.
Thank you very much !!
