620 Transmission Problem
I am posting this for a friend who has a 620. He was riding in the neighborhood and came up on sand. He panicked and he "thinks" may have downshifted too many gears. The problem is when the bike is in neutral the front sprocket is "clicking" and the chain jumps. This is not enough to move the bike though. There is noise inside the tranny like gears trying to mesh when it happens or something loose in the box. I put it in gear and went 6 feet and it locked up so you can't even ride it. There is vibration thru the clutch handle when this is happening. I also ran it thru all the gears with the clutch disengaged and it shifted thru the gears like they are all there. This bike has less than 1000 miles on it. Thanks for any advice.

Have you looked at the countershaft sprocket? Also check the chain for kinks... Countershaft sprockets bend and chains stretch or bend side to side, Me thinks you got ^^^^ The gear boxes are almost over built on the 620's It would be hard to damage them. You might also check the belt timing as you might have spit a belt off, Or forced it to hop a tooth. Pulling the timing belt covers is easy. The timing marks are marked on the cases and pullies. Just line them up with motor in top dead center. The older monsters had bad countershaft bearing that would fail. Great way to check for internal damage is to drain the oil and check the pre-screen. Good Luck
