Boot up in safe mode and selct VGA support, then set the video resolution to your Princeton VL2018 native resolution mode (1680x1050 @60 Hz)

Hopefully you monitor doese not have the same problem (bad caps) just like the other VL2018 as shown in my pictures here (but it will fail for sure later on):
