95 subaru legacy trouble starting. When it starts it runs rough, you must wait appox. 1 minuet until it smooths out before it will take any throttle. Lately it has not been starting so I must push the throttle to the floor and crank it, it will finally start but again runs rough for approx 1 minute. I got a code that says it has a miss in no. 4 spark plug. I put on a new set of good plug wires, new plugs and a new coil with no difference. I pulled all the injectors, cleaned and switched them at 3 and 4 and the code came back the same. Miss at no. 4. What's up? I have loose connection that makes my dash lights blink off and some times i have to hit the dash for them to come back on. i can't find the loose wire, is threre a ground under the dash and where are they if more that one. Could this be a ground problem at the computer that may be causing both problems. Where is the computer located and could it be bad? This has been a great car for us and we purchased it new
It is unlikely you have a bad computer but still possible. i would take a compression test on that # 4 cylinder and compare it with other but anything under 110 would cause an issue like this. do it when the motor is cold and has not been started yet. you may have a weak ring and when it warms the first few min. it get compression built up. computer ground are in several places and i would be looking ate the ones on the firewall and near the battery. there is a ground on the passanger side kick panel i would check and the ground for the inst. cluster are where the center console meets the dash left and right. but i would do that first then go from there. the computer is locate under the dash on the passanger side middle. let me know if you have any more questions
The dash lights could be affected by chassis grounds in the wiring being corroded or loose. I'm not certain where all the grounds are located, though.
The no-start or poor-start condition with a cylinder 4 misfire should be further diagnosed by changing injectors between cylinders. Try moving #1 to #4 and viceversa, and see if the problem chases the injector.
It could be hanging open or clogged, and show a misfire light due to a rich or lean condition on that cylinder that doesn't affect the overall AFR reading that the O2 sensor gives the ECM, so there will not be an O2 lean or rich code displayed.
Also try switching plug wires between cylinders and see if the trouble chases a plug wire.
To answer your comment, the IACV is always located in the intake manifold, usually on or near the throttle body. It has wires attached to it.
Your idle air control valve needs replacement that will fix your idle issues. as far as your missing issue it sound like a vacuum leak. Carefully check all of you hoses, if in doubt replace them, they're cheap. Yes there are many grounds behind the dashboard. Also there are many wires that need proper voltage. You need to check them all, there are no shortcuts unfortunately. Good luck!!!

I'm thinking you have two separate problems here.
