tried what you said to do. i didn't disconect anything. but when we 1st put the handheld on it these 2 codes came up,[ po125] and [po 401] we reset the comp. and they all went away. i just came back from schucks and they put a handheld on it and no codesw came. whats next? thanks bert

401 might have been caused by 125. The exhaust gas recirc is likely to be inefficient or not working until the engine is at working temperature. PO125 is the engine not reaching operating temperature.
Clearly the fault(s) are intermittent or borderline. The engine might not be warming up correctly or there might be a sensor or wiring fault.
Make a start by checking the thermostat...
