A friend gave me a whistler 35r and I can not get it to turn on, it has now plug in power source so I assume it takes batteries but I can not open it, so i guess im asking how to change the batteries. and no im not blonde

That model is not battery powered. It requires a 12 volt power cord connected to your lighter socket to operate. You can purchase a power cord at any electronic parts store or from Whistler by calling 800-531-0004.
