A lacie d2 extreme 250gig triple won't mount anymore
System profilers on all 3 of my macs only recognize that there is an unidentified device attached to the port (i've tried them all, fw400 800
& usb 2) with a data rate of (whatever port it's on). It seems hopeful that this is not a problem with the actual hard disk, but with either drive or cage electronics. (I'm trying to keep optimistic here as it's been having to do duty as the media scratch drive for a macbook pro so stuffed with apps, app-support, plug-ins, beta builds and extras that there simply was no way it could handle the raw media libraries. If you just have a pointer as far as what direction to look to learn more, that'd be fine. Or, anything really. I'm just looking for a starting point.

Try deleting /uninstalling everything that is not absolutely necessary to free up ram space and see if it improves the situation
