A pool guy took apart my Old DE filter and said that I need to replace plates and fingers. He said they no long make th eparts and I should relace the whole thing. Since we don't have $, I went out and bounght the plates and fingers myself and need to reassemble with new parts. Is that something I can do on my own, this guy is trying to take me for a ride : (

Yes, you can do it yourself. Ther e is usually a grid smaller than the others. This is called a "partial grid". It is usually placed to the right of the input port on the manifold when looking doen on the upper manifold.. Getting the grids all together for a good fit is a real hassle, but if you don't. you will send DE into your pool..... Take your time...
