ABIT AV8 not reading SATA ASUS DVD Burner
I have the ABIT AV8 motehrboard and am running one SATA hard drive on channel 0 and an ASUS SATA dVD burner on channel 1. My rpoblem is that even though the DVD drive shows up under "My Computer," it won't read any disks inserted unless I reboot the computer. I don't have extensive knowledge of SATA and RAID configurations, so any help in resolving this matter would be appreciated.Thank you.

I solved this differently - I just connected the drive via a USB-to-SATA adapter and all is well. I guess my motherboard's SATA controller can't handle modern SATA2 drives properly. The USB adapter did the trick.
