This is usually from the loss of the coolant (Freon) you can get a recharge kit at an autoparts store BUT if ALL the Freon is gone, it is going to be expensive (1000 dollars or more) to fix. To check the Freon you can get a gauge and put it on the Schrader valves in the system to measure the pressure. If there is no pressure then you are in it for the long haul. If there is some pressure then you can add Freon with the kit to get it back to where it should be but you need to locate the leak. The reason a total loss of Freon is expensive is because to fix it right, the system has to be dismantled, flushed, parts replaced (like dessicant) and reassembled, vacuum down with a special pump so no air is in it, then add oil and Freon back.

Check Relay. If its good then it may need recharged with freon.
