Acrid persistent smell from storage radiator
I installed a Dimplex storage radiator to main bedroom but during the commisioning period 48 hours it made the room almost unuseable because of the acrid smell originating from the heater which meant sleeping with the windows open on some of the coldest winter nights. Now after 2 weeks operation the smell continues to be a problem. Have checked all the electrical connections for signs of burning with no trace of any problem in that area. Thought that the bricks or elements were responsible so exchanged them from another older heater but the smell persists. Tried to contact Dimplex by email but they will not respond to my query also tried by telephone but it seems they are represented by a call centre which appears to rely on "stock" predictable queries with the result that their answers are extremely limited and cannot handle this type of query. Result is a room heater where one has to leave doors and windows open in wintertime to dispel an associated acrid smell which makes this Dimplex radiator one of the most inefficent forms of room heating. Dimplex appear to be not at all interested in customer feedback of this nature. Would welcome any suggestions. Jack
