To Answer your problem action replays don't come with ever game in its date base so you can manually put codes in. im assuming it came with a cd so you can update it and put new codes in the unknown message usual means it has no codes for that game hope this helps
*Please note if you bought this pre-used skip to solution 2.
Solution 1:
Chances are it is saying "Unknown Game" because that game is not on the list of cheats that you have, double check your list of games. Each game has a unique game ID and it checks your cheat list for a name that matches the game. A way to fix this would be either to enter the cheat codes by hand, by copying the target="_blank">here.
The codes can be found online for Pokemon Pearl here.
There game ID's are listed at the top of the page
Platinum Game ID: CPUE-d074d1b3-3811DEF6
Pearl Game ID : APAE-31D0AFDE
Of course the easier method would be to link it up to a 32bit operating system and install their software. If you do not have the data disc, I can upload a copy of it online its only about 9MB so it wouldn't take all that long to transfer it.
Solution 2:
If you bought this Action Replay online, its quite possible that it was experiencing a bug. And that is, it has forgotten all of the cheats that it knew. You may think it would be as easy as just connecting it to the computer again, but its not. First you must restart the Action Replay to do this you must
Turn off your DS. Hold A+B. Turn it on. When it shows the Healthwarning screen, keep holding A+B and start holding START+SELECT. Waitfor the top screen to say "This product is not licensed or endorsed byNintendo, and then when that is done, let go, and your Action Replay will be reset. Now it is time to re-sync it with the computer. Let it transfer over the most recent version of the Action Replay firmware and then send over all of the codes. This may take some time and if it messes up in the middle of the process you may have to reset it again.
If neither of these solved your problem, feel free to leave a comment and I will attempt to assist you further.
