Add an inline volume controller
Our Polycom VoiceStation 300 is too loud even when the volume is turned all the way down on the unit. I think I should be able to install an in-line volume control on the cord that leads to the unit, but I don't know which wire(s) control volume. Does anyone have experience here who could talk me through it?

Unless you are good a solder then you probably won't be able to do it. You wolud need to solder a potentiometer inline of the + voltage to the speaker. Or solder one inline with the existing one. Potentiometer = voltage control aka volume control.
I'm pretty good at soldering, but I don't know which of the wires are which. They connect to the phone via an ethernet jack. I guess I could take the cover off and try to figure out which ones lead to the mic and which to the speakers, but I was hoping someone already knew. :-)
Yeah no clue, I'd just you a voltage meter on the wires. It will probably 5v
