Addidng ingredents How do you determine when to add ingredients such as carrots or raisins to a loaf of bread? There is nothing in the instruction manual and I do not want to turn these things into pulp or paste when mixing

The machine will beep when it is time to add such ingredients. It happens toward the end of the second kneading. If your machine never beeps then something is wrong with it.
Sorry, I don't know too much about breadmakers, but generally speaking, you add ingredients that you want to remain solid later into the mixture. If you add them before the dough is dough-y, then they'll get crushed.
