If it did not travel any further than you say and you were driving down the road as this occured i would have to say i sounds like your thermostat is sticking open? if this was occuring at idle it could also be the fan is running constanly, please check the condition of your coolant and hoses if they are soft and old i would change them as well as the thermostat and take it from there these parts are inexpensive and would be considered maintance as well good luck and please rate -jeff
so the fans run any time the key is in the on position correct? because if your ac is on your fans will run at the same time no matter what, if the ac is off and they still run you have a bad fan temp sender in the radiator, if all your climate controls are off you turn the key on and the fans run, try unplugging this fan thermo switch (when the car is cold) it should be located on the radiator most likely on the bottom and will be a two wire sensor if you unplug this and the fans go off you have your suspect should be about a $15-$20 part and if your quick when you take it out you wont even loss much coolant in the process. make sure the car is cold when you do this and relieve the pressure by loosening the radiator cap but then put it back on before removing the sensor that way the coolant cannot flow out thanks and good luck please rate -jeffso the fans run any time the key is in the on position correct? because if your ac is on your fans will run at the same time no matter what, if the ac is off and they still run you have a bad fan temp sender in the radiator, if all your climate controls are off you turn the key on and the fans run, try unplugging this fan thermo switch (when the car is cold) it should be located on the radiator most likely on the bottom and will be a two wire sensor if you unplug this and the fans go off you have your suspect should be about a $15-$20 part and if your quick when you take it out you wont even loss much coolant in the process. make sure the car is cold when you do this and relieve the pressure by loosening the radiator cap but then put it back on before removing the sensor that way the coolant cannot flow out thanks and good luck please rate -jeff
