I have checked the coolant temp manually and it is only 86 degrees but my gauge says almost red + my air con stops working.Have you heard of this problem and why does my air con stop. Is the simple answer my temp guage and does this affect the air con some way. I drive around town and it never does this it only hapens when i go on long trips.

You should have your a/c system ck'd. Reason could be excessive system pressure and temp. This would explain the a/c safety turning off the a/c and the temp rise of the engine cooling system. Good Luck.
Ok, Let's keep them separated then. We will address the temp gauge first. In the engine compartment there should be a ground strap from the engine to the firewall. This grd affects the instrumentation and cab accessories.Take a look at that for a sound connection. This can also affect anything else in the cab, including the a/c blower motor.. It should only take a minute to ck, it's location should be where the engine is closest to the firewall and accessible. Good Luck and let me know.
