After I flush the toilet, the motor continues to run and not stop. The only way to stop the motor is to kill the power to the unit. I was told the the float or float switch may be stuck. I was wondering how difficult was this for an inexperieinced person and how messy was this clean up

Yeah most likely the float switch may be stuck in the on position. Remove the pump out the back of the toilet, pry open the lid using a flat head screwdriver, remove 2 or 3 screws from front and back of pump casing, remove the motor and pressure chamber out the top as one piece, place it on a work bench, the pressure chamber is the white casing where the power cord comes out the top. There is a black rubber membrane at the bottom of the pressure chamber, inspect it and make sure is not warped or that there are no solids build up at the bottom.
