After installation, power was put to the unit. Display came on and while adjusting temperature the unit made a loud bang. Every thing went dead and inspection of the power control board and power supply revealed black burn areas around and behind them. Do you have any idea what caused this? And if I repace those parts will it happen again? Regards

Hello,
there are two things that could cause this: 1.) its either the unit recieved excess power supply or 2.) there was a bridge of wires inside the unit that made made it blow. Again, something might have gone wrong with the power control board unknowing to you.
Replacing the bad part will not make it happen again. Just make sure you replace the part's to its approriate places and make sure there is not bridge of wires. You can test the power board with a meter after the replacement of the parts.
There is nothing to worry about. As long as you fix the parts well, it won't happen again.
you can go ahead replace the parts.
Take care.
