After years of using the same setup I get a communication error on my Epson r290
Years of using same setup, epson r290 with a macbook pro 10.7.5. No recent updates. Printed fine one day next day i get communication error. First thing was I checked all connections, turned printer on and off several times. disconnect printer and used another USB line that I know is good. Removed software and did a new install from CD. I disconnected USB and power cord then re attached them. The printer monitor shows that the printer is connected for when I disconnect the USB is says printer not ready, then when I reconnect it says printer ready and you see the loading cycle start but never finishes. When I go to utilities for my printer is says it is connected but Communication error. Most of what I find on the net to try a reset is for windows. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you have multiple drivers. On the MAC, go to the printer set up window in system preferences and select the r290, then go to the "-" minus icon at the bottom to dump the r290 from the list. Restart the computer with the r290 connected and see if the system recognizes it again in the preferences window. Hit the + icon to add it. Hope this helps.
