Air bags the airbag light is flashing, ive read that most likely the clocksprint needs to be replaced. how do i know that the clockspring needs to be replaced, i called the dealer ship but just to see it they charge me $190. also the radio commands and the horn in the steering wheel do not work, but the cruise control does work? need help. thanks
Try to reset the computer by doing this..with the key in the run position..disconnect the battery negative cable..car will die completely..shut the key off..then reconnect the negative cable..then turn the key to the run position..DO NOT ATTEMPT TO START..let all dash indicators go out before you attempt to start the car..those few seconds allow the obc to reset to the factory presets..
Take the steering wheel off and look at it. Follow all safety precautions closely for the airbag. Take the neg. cable off the battery and wait 45 minutes for the residual charge for the airbag to dissipate. You really need to follow a repair procedure (buy a repair manual) for the clockspring-if you get it in wrong, it will snap apart the first time you turn the wheel. Not trying to dissuade you from doing it to try and save money-it is not rocket science, scrappers handle airbags and their parts all the time, but they do follow all safety precautions, and they know how and what they are doing. I would just say to follow the manufacturer's detailed procedures. It should be in a repair manual. Lots of information and video tutorials on youtube- you could check there. If you google clocksprings, airbags, or such, you could probably spend hours researching it. Anything helps to beat the greedy dealers.
