If your car air conditioner got gradually worst and not getting cold, then it is likely that you will need to get your car air conditioner 'recharged' with refrigerant: this is normal wear and any good mechanical shop will have the appropriate specilaized equipment to do it at a reasonnable cost. Check the relay for the A/C in the fusebox under the hood. This will also cause A/C not to work.
