All of a sudden my patio heater will not stay lit
I have never had trouble with this patio heater. It is about 3 years old. I do not use it a LOT but it has always worked fine. Tonight I lit it and it was fine and then it went out. I thought the gas tank was empty so I swapped it with a new, full tank that I had as a back up and it still keeps going out. It will stay lit for a minute or two and then just goes out. I have checked the connection and it is tight... the hose is NOT kinked and the valve is open full. I just checked the "empty" tank and it seems like it is not really totally empty. What could be the problem?

Describe the pilot. Is it a strong blue flame or lazy yellow? Is the thermocouple getting red hot by the pilot flame? I'm wondering if the pilot is impinging enough on the thermocouple to keep it lit. It may be dirty, so try blowing out the pilot orifice with a can of compressed air and see if that helps. Also make sure the thermocouple tip is not burn't. If you feel the tip and it feels jagged, then replace it. Hope that helps. Douglas
