Alpine car stereo model #CDA 9825
My daughter got a jump for a dead battery. The CD player now displays ERROR and the radio works off and on. She will be driving and it will shut off and lose all presets, then start again when she starts the car next time.The radio doesn't always shut off when she drives. The radio was in the car when we bought it, with no owner's manual. Any thoughts? Is the fuse located just behind the radio? Thank you for any assistance. Terry

Based on your post/description, your concerns are:
- CD player ERROR;
- intermittent radio;
- all presets lost when radio shutdowns.
All of the above indicates a wiring problem or at the very least a loose connection more particularly to the mains B+ (always on) which is often tapped at the IGN SW or on the radio fuse in the fuse box/bank. The always on B+12 is directly tied to the + battery terminal and as the name implies, with or without the key in the IGN SW, there is a +12 always. This always on B+12 is responsible for the retention of the memory presets. Pls re-check that the following wires are connected as indicated:- Yellow (with the filter/fuse) - always on B+12
- Red - ACC +12 (ignition switch)
- Black - car body ground/negative
- Blue - to power a motorized/amplified antenna (if needed)
- Blue/White - to power an external amplifier (if used)
Check/diagnostic procedure for the radio:- with the use of a DVM, measure/monitor the voltage at the yellow wire;
- move the various connectors under the dash around;
- snap/unsnap the connectors;
- force/apply pressure to joints;
- tug on the harness a bit;
- pay particular attention to the connector going to the IGN SW;
- while any of the above is being done, the 12VDC reading on the yellow wire should not vary. At any point, on any step/test performed that the reading would deviate (no matter how small) indicates a strongly possible loose/problematic connection;
- the same could be done with the red wire.
Check/diagnostic procedure for the CD player:- soon as the radio's problem has been identified and corrected, try again to eject the CD;
- if a no-go, you may have to force the disc out using a tweezer;
- otherwise, the unit has to be opened up.
Additionally, if I may inquire, year, make and model of the car it was installed in.Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Fuse is good if it still comes on. They did not hook cables up wrong did they? check battery connections and see if someone ran a wire to battery for the radio if so cables may have disturbed this and causing bad connection.
Hi sir... please dieassemble the cd - player and check whether any wire is in loose connection .. and by visual there is no problem. by that way insert the battery and check it is working or not..if also not work's mean's take the multi meter to check the voltage of the battery and see till where the supply pass see at the speaker point how much voltage come's if at the rate ot 1 to 1.5 vg.. it is correct.. if any assist i am there to solve. thank u .. don't forget to fix it..
Check the battery cable and also the internal wiring
If the CD player is turning off intermittently, there is a big chance that there is a loose wire or connection inside.
If you can get your hands on a service manual to check connections to diagnose problem, that would be great.
You will have to take the cd player out the connector in the back is loose not cliped in good or it might have a loose earth or power wire in will be just a quincidence it happened when it just started it
the reset button should be under the face is that a fixya or what baby yeh
Wirings and connection may trouble the function of your car stereo. an expert technician will solve this problem for they were can set the wirings from it. dont relay on my answer if not the wirings is concern. we have a car and deffinitely we send it to a wiring technician if we got a problem about it.
see if your car stereo is a front panel removable and try to locate the fuse. you can buy some fuse from an electronic shop. hope that helps sir

Unplug battery cable for ten minutes and plug it back.
Check also all connections at the back, a short in the connector can cause the stereo behaving erratically.
If the CD player works intermittently, the fuse is good but there could be a loose wire connecting to the CD player since it's aftermarket. I would suggest to check the red wire and the orange/yellow and make sure they're connected properly. In order to do this. you will need to dismount the CD player and secure the wires mentioned.
Page # 5 will have instructions on how to reset the CD player and hopefully that might eject the CD after pressing the reset switch. For the radio intermittent operation, I still suggest to check the power wires connected to the device.

You could remove the radio from the socket..............
yes maybe the fuse fot blown
but then it wont work at any time
my guess is that may be some internal wire got burnt
